Without goals, we are like ships without a defined destination.
Without people to share them with, we are like captains without a crew.
What is a Smart Goal?
To make sure your goals are clear and reachable, each one should be:
Specific (simple, sensible, significant).
Measurable (meaningful, motivating).
Achievable (agreed, attainable).
Relevant (reasonable, realistic and resourced, results-based).
Time bound (time-based, time limited, time/cost limited, timely, time-sensitive).

1. Specific
Try to answer to these questions:
What do I want to accomplish?
Why is this goal important?
Who is involved?
Where is it located?
Which resources or limits are involved?
2. Measurable
You should be able to answer to these:
How much?
How many?
How will I know when it is accomplished?
3. Achievable
Take inspiration from these:
How can I accomplish this goal?
How realistic is the goal, based on other constraints, such as financial factors?
4. Relevant
You should be able to answer yes to the following:
Does this seem worthwhile?
Does this match my other efforts/needs?
Am I the right person to reach this goal?
Is it applicable in the current socio-economic environment?
5. Time-bound
Think about:
When?
What can I do six months from now?
What can I do six weeks from now?
What can I do today?

L'obbiettivo e rimanere sempre con i piedi per terra, ogni tanto li faremo volare ma sempre con criterio. Pazienza e Perseveranza sono ingredienti essenziali. Al di là di una disciplina morale
1. Specific
What do I want to accomplish?
Create a successful SEO company that helps other businesses become successful.
Why is this goal important?
First, it's important because I've already invested a decent amount of time and energy into it, so following through is paramount. Secondly, I've worked in-house for several companies doing the same work, so the logical next step is to learn to create systems so I can efficiently scale my methodology. Lastly, the profits from this company will help fund more ventures I want to pursue.
Who is involved?
Myself, other freelancers/contractors, and other digital marketing companies I'll partner with that offer different services than I.
Where is it located?
Online. Business is registered in NYC, but provides service to most major metropolitan cities in the US.
Which resources or limits are involved?
Money is limited right now, so I'm working on a "shoestring budget", which is fine given most of the tasks can be achieved given enough time. As income increases, I can trade time for money.
2. Measurable
How much?
Page 1 rankings for my desired keywords. Leads & onboarded clients.
How many?
As many as possible. I want a steady stream of inbound leads from businesses so I'm not stuck feeling dependent on one client or another.
How will I know when it is accomplished?
When I have a steady stream of inbound leads, to the point that I would consider selling leads to other SEO companies instead of pursuing the client myself.
3. Achievable
How can I accomplish this goal?
Keep going.
How realistic is the goal, based on other constraints, such as financial factors?
Very realistic.
4. Relevant
Does this seem worthwhile?
Yes. As stated before, I've done this same work for other companies before, so doing the same work to build my own company seems like the right decision.
Does this match my other efforts/needs?
I don't know what this question means.
Am I the right person to reach this goal?
Yes. I've been self-teaching, and self-starting my own web projects for over 10 years.
Is it applicable in the current socio-economic environment?
Yes. Given the lockdowns and social distancing, businesses are relying heavily on the Internet. So, being able to rank for search terms that are relevant to their company is more important than ever.
5. Time-bound
When?
ASAP.
What can I do six months from now?
Six months from now I hope to be hiring account managers to further scale systems that I've worked out completely.
What can I do six weeks from now?
Six weeks from now I hope to have multiple satisfied clients who I'll be working on their projects for.
What can I do today?
Today I am working on building the digital footprint for my company. Essentially the same work I'd be doing for a client, except not getting paid for it.

My SMART Goal:
Specific: Get a government job (preferably pass the Bangladesh Civil Service examination). Backup plan will be to join the Bangladesh Bank (Central Bank of Bangladesh) as an Assistant Director.
Measurable: It will be achieved after I get the appointment letter in my hand.
Achievable: Through studying job examination question banks & other job related materials it can be achieved. Thanks to my parents I'm not in any financial constraint & can concentrate fully on studying.
Relevant: Working in the public sector means job security & retirement benefits that is rarely present in the private sector of Bangladesh, so these goals are essential for a better career path. Also, society respects white collars of the public service sectors.
Time-bound: Within the next 2 years I want to accomplish any of these goals. Starting from today I must form a routine for studying & stick to it religiously until exam time comes. My time limit is 2 years, and I must bear that in mind.
